Since 1970, Don’s Driving School has stood as a pillar of driver education in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

Founded by Don Prouty—educator, instructor, and visionary—the school began when Don and his wife Bernie brought their passion for teaching to the road. With nearly fifty years in driver education, Don believed in more than just preparing students for the test; he believed in shaping safe, confident, responsible drivers. He passed away on October 22, 2019—but his values continue to steer every lesson, every instructor, and every student.

Today, Don’s Driving School carries forward that tradition under new leadership, maintaining Don’s standard of excellence. Our instructors—many of whom have been part of the school for decades—share a common goal: to provide a positive, supportive learning environment in which every student’s unique style is respected, and where driver safety is always priority one.
